Pre-order List - January 2012

This page includes plants available for pre-order, to arrive in the U.S. late February / early March. We decided to allow this option as this a way to try to assure people are going to have available what they want and we bring more of items that people want most. In case you are interested in any of these, please let us know the latest by mid-February.

As an incentive for pre-orders, plants on this list will have a 10% extra discount on top of our regular listed discounts.

A few of these items are still in our website list, but are actually out of stock and this is why they are listed here. We are going to be bringing a lot more stuff that we are unable to list for pre-order at this point, and these will be part of the next significant update on the list by mid-March.

Brassavola martiana

This is the typical Brassavola species from the Amazon. Flowers are among the smallest in the genus, but produced in large numbers on the inflorescences. The main feature of the flowers are the fringed margins on the lips. Rare in cultivation, fragrant at night.

FS - 20.00

Cattleya bicolor 'Dark' x self

Selfing of a very dark Cattleya bicolor with the objective to produce more of those. Unusual color of the species.

3" - 25.00

Cattleya chocoensis (tipo x orlata)

Here we have a plant like the one pictured here outcrossed with another with flowers with a full circle of color around the lip. Result should be excellent shapes on flowers with varied degrees of color encircling the lip.

3" - 35.00

Cattleya dowiana aurea x sib select

This is the Colombian form of the species, also known as Cattleya aurea. Segments are butter yellow and lips have very intense red veinings.

3" - 30.00

Cattleya eldorado (alba x 'Gigante Azul')

Here we have a somewhat speculative seedling batch, a cross between an alba and a coerulea. This is the only way to produce more coeruleas (short of selfing and risking the one available, but no guarantee though). Keep in mind that coeruleas are the most rare and simply unavailable eldorados yet. Limited.

3" - 45.00

Cattleya eldorado concolor punctata 'Bela' x self

Flowers of the mother plant are concolor pink, except for a small darker mark on the lip, exactly like the one shown here. Flowers should very just a little, mostly repeating the color. As with all eldorados, very fragrant.

3" - 45.00

Cattleya eldorado magenta orlata pincelada 'Tapajós' x self

Another magnificent color form of Cattleya eldorado. Flowers are very dark with a even more contrasting lip. Selfings are the way to go to try to produce more of these, and the variation might be only in the mount of dark color on the lips.

3" - 65.00

Cattleya eldorado semi-alba 'Iracema' x self

A very rare color form of the species. Although light-colored flowers are common in Cattleya eldorado, true semi-albas are extremely rare. The selfing is a way to try to produce more of those.

3" - 65.00

Cattleya eldorado orlata x self

Another spectacular eldorado, here pictured, selfed to produce more plants of this outstanding color form. Plants are strong growers.

3" - 55.00

Cattleya eldorado (tipo x rubra)

This is an outcross between a plant with excellent flowers but with the regular color with another one also with excellent quality but in this case with very dark flowers. Idea is to produce more plants with excellent color and shape. Limited.

3" - 45.00

Cattleya elongata

Cattleya elongata is very rare in cultivation, even in Brazil. Happens that this is a species that comes from a region with a long dry period, and plants grow on fairly exposed rock ledges. Main concern then is with excess of water.

3" - 25.00

Cattleya elongata alba x self

Cattleya elongata is rare in cultivation, especially any color forms. In this case, an unique alba was selfed aiming to produce more of those green flowers with white lips. Very limited, one per customer, please.

3" - 100.00

Cattleya forbesii

Cattleya forbesii is native of Rio de Janeiro, and most plants grow at sea level close to the ocean. As a result, it is a very easy plant to cultivate. Color varies from green to tan on the segments, and the white lips always have a yellow throat and red veins.

3" - 20.00

Cattleya intermedia (aquinii rubra x orlata)

This is a seedling batch with the objective of producing flowers that are peloric and also with dark margins on the lip. There is quite some variation in the flowers, but the percentage with splashes and dark margins like this one pictured is very high.

3" - 25.00

Cattleya intermedia aquinii alba ('Neve' x 'Sublime')

This is a sib aiming to produce more of these gorgeous flowers, like the one pictured here. So far, the success rate in this kind of seedling batch is extremely high.

4" - 40.00

Cattleya kerrii x sib select

A very rare species from coastal tropical Brazil. The species is closely related to Cattleya harrisoniana, but plants and flowers are a bit smaller. Warm growers.

3" (FS) - 25.00

Cattleya labiata amesiana 'Bela' x self

Amesianas are very distinct and desirable labiatas, as the color on the segments go from white to light pink, and the lips have only a light pink color with a yellow throat. This particular one has white segments and excellent shape.

3" - 45.00

Cattleya labiata amesiana lineata ('AWZ' x 'Pedra Azul')

These two plants depict an ever rarer variation of the amesianas, as they have veins on the pink portion of the lip. This rare color pattern should repeat on the offspring

3" - 45.00

Cattleya labiata amesiana concolor ('Serra Negra' x 'Angel')

In this case, both parents have light pink segments, so this should repeat in this seedling batch.

3" - 40.00

Cattleya labiata amesiana concolor ('Serra Negra' x 'Preciosa')

Another outcross to produce more light pink amesianas, with a slightly different color pattern and shape. High quality expected in this batch, like in all other amesianas.

3" - 40.00

Cattleya labiata coerulea ('Panelas' x 'Junior')

A sib cross made using a very dark-lipped Cattleya labiata with another with excellent shape. The objective is producing more intense-colored coeruleas with good shape. The one pictured came from a previous same outcross.

NFS - 55.00

Cattleya labiata rubra integra orlata ('Z-41' x 'ZAS-1')

When we say 'rubra integra orlata' we mean lips with a full circle of dark color; pretty much this one. So here two of those were outcrossed to produce more of these exceptionally colored individuals.

3" - 45.00

Cattleya labiata rubra ('Schuller' x 'Deize')

A seedling batch using two very good rubras. Both have excellent shape and dark color so we are expecting more of these very dark and round labiatas. Should be similar to the one pictured here.

3" - 40.00

Cattleya labiata rubra orlata ('Maravilha' x 'Veludo Escuro')

A seedling batch using two excellent rubra orlatas. Shape and color are the objective here so we are expecting more of these very dark and round labiatas, similar to this one.

Another outcross of two excellent semialbas. Expectations are to produce more of these outstanding flowers, on par with the other semialba seedling listed.

3" - 40.00

Cattleya labiata semialba ('Garganta Escura' x sanguinea 'Paccione')

Objective here is to produce more semialbas with extremely dark lip colors. For this, two older plants were used both with particularly dark lips and very good shapes.

3" - 40.00

A seedling batch to produce excellent flowers of the typical color form of the species. As seen here, these show the typical white "eyes" on the sidelobes of the lip and darker frontlobe.

3" - 35.00

Cattleya loddigesii 4N x outcross

Outcrossing of two exceptional 4N loddigesiis, and the result expected is flowers like the one pictured here. As one of them is spotted, we are expecting the whole spectrum from no spots to a lot of them, all with excellent shape and substance

2" - 25.00

Cattleya loddigesii punctataa ('AWZ' x 'AWZ #6')

Two excellent plants outcrossed here, one with very strong spotting. Objective here is to produce flowers with excellent shape and varied degrees of spotting.

3" - 25.00

3" - 25.00

Cattleya lueddemanniana concolor x self

Very rare color form of the species. Flowers are an uniform light pink and shape is very good. A selfing should reproduce this pleasant color. Easy growers.

4" - 45.00

Cattleya lueddemanniana (rubra x 'Escura')

An outcross for dark-flowered lueddemannianas. The results should be very dark flowers, like this one, but with more variation in terms of shape and lip color pattern than the ones from the 'Escura' sib. Equally desirable.

3" - 25.00

Cattleya lueddemanniana ('Escura' x 'Labelo Dourado')

Here we have an outcross between a very dark-flowerd plant with another with lots of yellow in the lip. Objective is to have flowers with very good shape and a lot of color contast on the lip. Something like this.

3" - 25.00

Cattleya lueddemanniana Escura ('Roja' x 'Red')

Two very dark lueddemannianas sibbed here. The idea is to produce dark flowers with excellent shape, something like the one pictured. Should be a fairly uniform seedling batch.

3" - 25.00

Cattleya nobilior ('D. Rafael' x 'Luciana')

Here we have two excellent regular type nobiliors outrossed, and the only result we can expect is the production of more excellent dark nobiliors. This is a first blooming seedling from this batch.

3" - 35.00

Cattleya schoffieldiana ('Gabriel Uliana' x 'Jubarte')

Outcross with the objective of producing well-shaped green schoffieldianas, as both parents have. Well, most schoffieldianas are green anyway, but using one plant from Espírito Santo and another from Bahia should produce vigorous plants.

3" - 30.00

Cattleya schoffieldiana ('Gabriel Uliana' x 'Ano Novo')

In this case, both plants are from Espírito Santo, but with varied amounts of spotting. So in this case, we also expect very well-shaped flowers, and the variation should be in the amount of spotting.

3" - 30.00

Cattleya schoffieldiana 'Arraial da Ajuda' x self

Selfing of an excellent plant from Bahia. Plants should be very vigorous and produce large dark green flowers with lots of veinings like the ne pictured here.

3" - 30.00

Cattleya trianae amesiana x sib select

Two excellent trianae amesianas were used here to produce more of these white flowers with light pink lips. Both plants have very good shape and color, and this type of sib usually is very faithful to the color. One of the first ones to bloom pictured here.

4" - 45.00

Cattleya velutina x sib select

This is a very rare species, both in cultivation and in the wild (due to extensive habitat destruction). The 3 1/2" flowers are very unique in the genus, and are produced up to 8+ per inflorescence. Very limited quantity (so 1 per customer, please).

3" - 35.00

Cattleya warneri coerulea ('Carolina' x 'Raasch')

An outcross of two excellent coeruleas. The colors should be very similar to the ones of labiata coeruleas, except that segments tend to be lighter-colored in warneris. Flowers should be very large, flowering season in Spring.

3" - 35.00

Cattleya warneri concolor x self

The plant used for this selfing has light magenta segments and the lip has the same color except for the white throat. Colors should be pretty much the same as on this one pictured.

3" - 35.00

Cattleya warneri (integra orlata 'FCC' x tipo 'Lua Cheia')

These will be regular color warneris, essentially the same magenta color as labiatas. One of the parents also has a circle of dark color around the lip. As both parents have exceptional shape, the idea is to produce more warneris with large and shapely flowers.

3" - 40.00

Cattleya warneri tipo ('Schunk' x 'Pedra Azul')

An outcross of two outstanding regular warneris, to produce more of these nice flowers. Color should be very similar to this one pictured, including the lip pattern which is typical for the species.

NFS - 150.00

Laelia milleri ('BV' x 'Cristiane')

One of the nicest rupicolous Laelia species, and the one to produce almost always very intense red flowers. The species is also almost extinct in the wild. Two very bright red flowered plants were outcrossed to repeat color. Flowers are about 2" across.

NFS - 30.00

Laelia perrinii alba ('AM' x 'RK')

A very unusual form of the species. As the two parents have pure white flowers, it is almost a 100% sure plants will produce them flowers. An interesting thing is that plants have pigmentation even though the flowers don't.

3" - 35.00

Laelia perrinii (delicata x amoena)

Unique color form of this very showy, large-flowered species. Flowers should be white except for some very light pink on the lip front lobe. Flowers about 5"-6" across. Fall bloomer.

2" (NFS) - 50.00

Maxillaria schunkeana

The darkest of the maxillarias. Flowers are almost black (actually a very, very dark purple-red), are about 3/4" across and produced several at at a time, each on its short individual flower spike. Plants are also compact. Intermediate growers.

3" (FS) - 25.00

Miltonia spectabilis alba x self

Selfing of a very rare albino form of this favorite warm-growing Brazilian Miltonia. The large and flat flowers should be pure white with bright yellow callus region on the lip.
