Laelia - Special Selected Seedlings

This page includes all selected varieties and color forms of Laelia species, Brazilian or exotic.

Laelia alaorii x sib select

Two good quality light colored alaoriis we sibbed here to produce more of these typical colored ones.

NFS - 30.00

Laelia crispa carnea x self

Very nice color form of the species, with white segments and light pink veinings on the lip's frontlobe. Selfings like these confirm the colors, so we should get more of those

3" - 35.00

Laelia dayana coerulea x self

The showiest form of one of these not so common hadrolaelias. Flowers are about or a bit over 3" across, always with an extremely dark purple lip.

FS - 75.00

Laelia jongheana alba x sib select

These are sure to produce albas, and with good quality flowers, those white with golden yellow lip throat and keels. Excellent growers, these plant are at a size to bloom. Very few plants available.

NFS - 150.00

Laelia milleri 'Cristiane' x sib

One of the nicest species of rock-growing laelias. Flowers are orange to red and 'Cristiane', pictured above, should impart bright colors and excellent shape. Flowers are nearly 2" across.

FS - 25.00

Laelia perrinii amesiana x self

Unique color form of this very showy, large-flowered species. Flowers are white except for some very light pink on the lip front lobe. Flowers about 6" across. Fall bloomer.

3" - 30.00

Laelia perrinii coerulea x sib select

Two excellent periinii coeruleas outcrossed, both with very good shape and one of them especially dark. The idea is to produce excellent flowers on vigorous plants, hopefully similar to the one on this picture.

2" - 25.00

Laelia praestans (''Gigante' x 'Santa Leopoldina')

Two selected parents were used here, one producing very dark and the other very large flowers. Flowers about 4" to 5" across, most already flowered with results like this one (from the same batch).

3" (FS) - 25.00

Laelia purpurata carnea x sib select

Probably the best-known of the color forms of Laelia purpurata, carneas are white with a pink lip. The idea here is to produce dark-lipped carneas with good shape. This is a different strain than offered previously, so we expect a good difference from those.

4" - 25.00

Laelia purpurata (tipo claro 'Itajaí' x semi-alba 'Campeã 2003')

Expectation of excellent light-colored purpuratas with intense dark lips. Flat flowers with wide segments are the goal here. Here is a first blooming seedling, average for the cross. For the best one so far, look at the opening page.

4" - 65.00

Laelia purpurata carnea ('380 Deschamps' x '379 Gomes')

Two excellent carneas outcrossed with the objective of producing the very best carneas. Plants are excellent growers. None of them flowered yet.

4" - 45.00

Laelia purpurata (tipo '327 Deschamps' x sanguinea 'Deschamps')

A very dark tipo with fantastic shape outcrossed with an extremely dark one also with excellent shape. Best possible potential here for purpuratas, something like this.

4" - 65.00

Laelia purpurata tipo ('Carijó CD' x 'Esplendor')

We are looking here for excellent shape and substance, nothing less. Although you can never be sure how good seedlings will be, this is a high-percentage game. Picture of 'Carijó CD' shown here.

4" - 65.00

Laelia purpurata (semi-alba ('Campeã 2003' x tipo 'Ana Clara')

Seedling batch with expectation of large flowers with excellent shape, here with white to light segments. One of the first ones to bloom pictured here, for a better one look at the picture bar, the rightmost picture there.

4" - 65.00

Laelia purpurata semi-alba ('Rainha' x 'Grande')

Extremely high expectations for semi-albas on this seedling batch. None flowered yet.

4" - 55.00

Laelia purpurata semi-alba ('347 #2' x '333 #3')

And yet another possibly fantastic semi-alba seedling batch. None of these flowered so far, maybe a couple still this year.

4" - 55.00

Laelia purpurata roxo-violeta 'Crente' x 'Teca'

The first one to bloom showcases the potential of this out cross. Flowers with excellent shape and very good lip color.

4" - 45.00

Laelia purpurata (flammea '#8 CG' x striata 'Lisa Ex')

An excellent flat flammea crossed with a striata that has flat petals and clean markings in the middle of them. The objective is to produce excellent shapes and nice, well-defined strong markings on the petals.

2" - 20.00

Laelia purpurata werkhauseri x sib

This is a sib of two very good werkhauseris, to produce more plants wit this color form. Flowers up to 6+, very similr to the one pictured here, and heavily fragrant.

4" - 25.00

Laelia purpurata werkhauseri striata x sib

These are basically werkhauseris with striations on the petals. A new development on this color form, striking.

4" - 45.00

Laelia tenebrosa 'Áurea' x sib

This is one of the light-colored tenebrosas (sepals and petals are light brownish-yellow), with good-shaped flowers. The objective is to produce more flowers with these features.

2" - 15.00

Laelia tenebrosa aurea 'Richard Santos' x self

Selfing of an excellent aurea. Flowers are brownish-yellow and shape is excellent. The idea is to produce more of those.

4" - 35.00

Laelia tenebrosa ('Enorme' x 'Tipo select')

In this case, two very good tenebrosas were outcrossed, one with very large flowers and another not as large but with exceptional shape. Objective is to produce excellent tenebrosas with the regular dark color.

4" - 30.00

Laelia tenebrosa 'Rain Forest' x sib select

We used two very good dark tenebrosas ('Rain Forest' has an FCC/AOS and is considered one of the best dark ones) to achieve excellent color.

2" - 18.00

Laelia sincorana coerulea ('clara' x 'escura')

Another seedling batch of this gorgeous color form of the species. Here, a dark one was crossed with a light colored one to produce a wider possible spectrum of coerulean tones.

2" - 50.00
